Song: Heart of the Pine

Story of the song:

This song came to me as I was slowly emerging from a difficult time in my life. I had just moved to a new area - far from the community that I knew and loved dearly but I was beginning to see the light again. The three lower parts describe what was happening and the higher part is a plea or prayer to allow myself to deepen my roots and open up my heart again to build a new community - a new sense of wellbeing and belonging. I owe one of the harmony parts to the Kitchen Singers

Teaching tips:

This one can feel like it has a tricky rhythm so it is worth getting everyone moving to the beat of the low part and then it feels fairly simple to teach.

For now the download will give you some recordings that are not quite as professional but will get you singing the song in your groups which is the most important part, right?
